Hours are earned each payroll and added to the total in the accrual bucket. The total in the accrual bucket is subject to the Cap amount of 1.5 times the annual accrual rate. As an example, if you are in the category of employees accruing at the rate of 8 days per year then the maximum number of hours in your bucket will be 96 hours and when the bucket contains that amount you will not accrue any more time until you use some of it. Using even 1 day will make room in the bucket for another 8 hours and the accrual will resume. Each and every payroll day is the time to look at the accruals on your paystub to make sure the accrual has not stopped.
