The Lisa Beth Gerstman Foundation was excited to hold it first-ever Virtual Hold’Em Poker Tournament on Thursday, May 20th to raise vital funds for the Foundation as we enter the Summer of 2021. Over 200 card players joined us for this online event which was managed in partnership with Poker4Life, an organization that helps charities bring people together through poker to support causes they believe in. The tournament, which featured both an online poker room and Zoom, was hosted by Jim Recore, Merchandising Vice President, Indoor Garden at The Home Depot and attracted support from many of Home Depot’s suppliers, as well as from long-time friends and supporters of the Foundation. Jim will also be the honoree for our 2022 Lisa Beth Gerstman Foundation Golf Classic.
The winner of the poker tournament received the Grand Prize: a $10,000 entry to the World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas! Players who made the Final Table also received cash prizes. An online Silent Auction helped us raise even more money, with bidders vying for trips to Napa Valley, Lady Gaga concert experiences, sports tickets and memorabilia, jewelry, and more. Overall, everyone had a great time and the event was an enormous success. Most importantly, the money raised will help the Foundation continue to achieve its mission, which is enabling children with special needs in the New York Metropolitan Area the opportunity to attend summer day camps in integrated settings.
